A Wonderful Afternoon at Our Family Fun Day in Clydach!

A couple of Sundays ago, we welcomed more than 50 families to our Hannah’s Piano Tuition Family Fun Day at Clydach Village Hall, home of our piano studio near Abergavenny, and what an incredible afternoon it was!

From the moment families arrived, the hall was buzzing with laughter, excitement and a wonderful sense of community. One of the things I value most at Hannah’s Piano Tuition is creating much more than just piano lessons. I want every student and family to feel part of a welcoming musical community where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and everyone supports one another both on and off the piano stool.

Throughout the afternoon, our piano studio was open for students to perform for family and friends. It was wonderful to see so many pianists confidently sharing their music, encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s achievements.

The main hall was transformed into a hub of fun thanks to the fantastic Expressive Arts Studio South Wales, who kept everyone entertained with creative games and activities. Children loved building imaginative creations from Lego, while the photo booth complete with hilarious props created plenty of memorable moments (and lots of laughter!).

Our friends from Megabounce brought along a giant bouncy castle, which was busy from start to finish, while the giant Operation game and Beat the Buzzer became surprisingly competitive with children—and adults—determined to beat one another’s scores!

Thanks to the beautiful sunshine, we were also able to make the most of the outdoor space. Giant Twister and limbo proved to be huge hits, with families of all ages joining in and cheering each other on.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was undoubtedly the visit from Animals Interactive. Meeting a skunk, meerkat, snake, rabbits and many other fascinating animals was an unforgettable experience for everyone. The rabbits and guinea pigs were especially popular, with children delighted to feed them carrots and enjoy some gentle cuddles.

As the afternoon continued, C.J. Copner Ice Cream arrived with delicious ice creams, providing the perfect treat on such a warm summer’s day.

To finish off the event, we headed out onto the field for a giant game of tug of war. What started as a friendly competition quickly became a hilarious battle, eventually ending with four determined dads taking on everyone else! Despite putting up an impressive fight, the combined strength of the rest of the families eventually won the day!

Events like these remind me why I love running Hannah’s Piano Tuition. Learning an instrument is about so much more than weekly lessons—it’s about building confidence, making friends, supporting one another, and creating happy memories together. When children feel part of a positive community, they grow not only as musicians but also as confident young people. Those friendships and shared experiences make performing in concerts feel exciting rather than intimidating because they’re surrounded by familiar, encouraging faces.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to every family who came along and helped make the afternoon such a success. Seeing everyone chatting, laughing and enjoying time together was incredibly special, and I’m already looking forward to our next community event.
Looking Ahead…
Our next big family celebration will be our Christmas Concert Day on Sunday 6th December, once again at Clydach Village Hall. It’s always one of the highlights of the year, and we can’t wait to bring all of our piano families together again for a festive day full of music, celebration and Christmas cheer.
Thank you again to everyone who made our Family Fun Day so memorable—we’re already counting down to the next one!
